POM's v Convicts 2007 !

Getting into the swing of having no job to keep me distracted from enjoying all that this outdoor playground of BC has to offer, today saw the inaugural match of a summer long golf challenge between teams England and Australia !!

That I was partnered by a Canadian today hailing from the tundras of Ontario we need not worry about about too much just now. Mainly because over the course of the summer our resident pro is likely going to be required to pimp his nationality to whichever team (England or Australia) that is short a man on that day !

Welcome to the world of expact Vancouver where the native Canadian's own national pride is generally lost in the ongoing wrangling and banter between the POM's and the Convicts.

Opening day VICTORY then to team England - and this without having to penalise A.D.D who would appear to be struggling to work out the difference between AFL and golf. This given the amount he was witnessed using his foot as opposed to his club !

The golf courses are clearly fairly dull out here too looking at the picture right ?? !!! It's tuff lining up each tee shot with snow capped mountains in the background distracting you !

Mountain Grinding Madness !

Much as I loved Mum's special home cooking and the very many real beers consumed whilst at home this past month, it has done nothing clever for my waistline !!!

Taking a fresh vow therefore (now back in Canada again) to get back into the clean living, what better way to shed a few pounds then than to take on the madness of the Grouse Mountain Grind again !

(if you recall from last years blog - the grind is a suicidal climb up the side of Grouse Mountain under neath the ski access Gondola)

The plan is then............... to do this at least twice a week for the summer and to beat an hour !

Given that I am not working yet (nor will likely be for the next two months) look out you West Van soccer mom's - one fat English bloke coming through !!

This may not be pretty !

Don't ya just hate Australians !!! Those boys need to eat some more pies !!!

Happy with my own opening time of 51:30 (and having done this several times last year) - I was blown away by team Australia who powered in at at 50:15 ! What made it more annoying than hell was that this was even Will's virgin run, and he had no idea what he was letting himself in for !!

I shouldn't be too stressed really as as said marsupual is 7 years younger than me and has the drinking capabilities of Lindsay Logan !

Gorgeous George on the other hand who could see off Oliver Reed, George Best and Richard Harris one after the other just as a warm up, set a time more befitting his talents !!!

He still did it though top bloke !

Well I thought I should try all my new Canadian learnt from my year to date with the customs officer - just to make sure he let me in of course !!

Did the trick too !!!

Contrary to standard practice pillaging, the Viking even welcomed me in with a Canadian momento or two !!
